Legal
Terms of service
The agreement between you and us when you use MyTravelStatus: what the service does, what it costs, and what it does not promise.
In short
We count days. We don't decide anything. MyTravelStatus works out what the published rules say about the trips you enter. It is information, not legal, immigration or tax advice. Border officers, immigration authorities and tax authorities decide, not us.
The answer is only as good as your trips. You enter the dates, so you are responsible for keeping them right and complete. Before a trip or a filing that matters, check your dates with the authority or an adviser.
Free stays free. One traveler, the full Schengen 90/180 count, the trip planner, residence permits and email alerts cost nothing and need no card. Plus is $4.99 a month or $39 a year; Pro is $14.99 a month or $129 a year; Founders lifetime Plus is $99 once.
Cancel whenever you like. You buy plans from Link (Stripe), the merchant of record, which also pays refunds. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for, and you can export everything you hold with us at any time. If you live in the US, section 12 has an arbitration agreement.
1. Who we are
MyTravelStatus is operated by The Burrowbridge Group, LLC (doing business as MyTravelStatus.com), a South Dakota limited liability company, of 519 W 22nd St Ste 300 #251343, Sioux Falls, South Dakota 57105-1745, United States. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean that company, and “you” means the person using the service.
You can reach us at support@mytravelstatus.com, or through the support page when you are signed in. We answer support messages ourselves; there is no phone line.
You agree to these terms when you create an account. We record which version of the terms you agreed to and when, and we record it again when a purchase completes and when you start an upgrade from Plus to Pro. If you use the free Schengen calculator or the guides without an account, there is no contract between us, but sections 2 and 11 describe what those free tools are, what they are not, and how they should be used.
If you live in the United States, section 12 contains an arbitration agreement and a class-action waiver. They affect how a dispute between us is resolved. You can opt out of arbitration within 30 days, as section 12 explains.
2. What MyTravelStatus is, and what it is not
MyTravelStatus is a record-keeping and calculation tool. You enter your trips, your household, your residence permits and long-stay visas, and your travel documents. We apply the published rules to those entries and show you the result: how many Schengen days you have used and have left, when a day comes back, whether a planned trip fits, how a UK visit stands against the six-month visitor limit, what the tax residence rules of the seven European countries we cover would indicate, and what the UK Statutory Residence Test would indicate.
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for any government, the European Union, any Schengen state, His Majesty's Revenue and Customs, or any border or immigration authority.
How accurate the results are
We design the counts to follow the published rules as this site describes them, we test them hard, and we cite the sources behind them. Three things can still make a result wrong: the trips and documents you enter, rules that authorities read or apply differently, and mistakes in our software. The first is up to you, and no one can promise the second. If you find the third, tell us and we will fix it; your legal rights for a faulty service apply.
Rules change, and states apply them differently. The Statutory Residence Test indicator in particular is a reading of your answers, never a ruling, and it never computes split-year treatment. Before a trip or a filing that matters, check your dates and your status with the relevant authority or an adviser.
We cannot read the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) or any government record on your behalf. Where the product mentions EES, it is comparing your own log against a result you obtained from the EU's official tool and typed in.
Features that use AI
Some features use an AI model (Anthropic's Claude) to read a booking email you forward or a photo of a document you take, and suggest what to fill in. Suggestions can be wrong. Nothing is added to your trips or documents until you confirm it, and you are responsible for checking it first. Only forward emails and photograph documents you are entitled to share.
Reports, letters and evidence
The PDF report is a record you keep, not an official document, and no authority is required to accept it. The Article 52 letter is a template: you check it, complete it and send it yourself, and you are responsible for what it says. We do not send it, represent you or follow it up. The evidence vault keeps files as you uploaded them; we don't check that they are genuine.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old to have a free account, and 18, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher, to buy a plan. The service is not meant for children, and we do not knowingly create accounts for anyone under 16.
- An account belongs to one person. Sign-in is by a code or a single-use link sent to your email address, so keeping that mailbox secure is what keeps your account secure. Whoever controls your email can sign in as you, and we can't tell the difference.
- You may add other people to your household and record their trips and documents only if you have the right to, for example as their parent or guardian, or with their permission. Tell any adult you add that their travel details are held in your account.
- Don't share your sign-in codes or links. If you think someone else has reached your account, sign out everywhere from Settings and tell us.
- Your calendar subscription link works without signing in, so anyone who has it can see what it shows. Share it carefully. If it leaks, get a new link or turn the feed off in Settings.
4. Your data is yours, and so is the responsibility for it
- The trips, people, permits, documents and files you enter stay yours. We do not sell them, and we do not use them to advertise to you.
- You are responsible for entering them correctly and keeping them up to date. Every count we show is built from what you typed.
- You can export everything we hold as a spreadsheet or a JSON file, at any time, from Settings. Do it before you cancel or delete, not after.
- You can delete your account from Settings. That cancels any active subscription, deletes your files and removes your data. It cannot be undone. The few records that outlast it for a limited time, such as backups, are listed in the privacy policy.
- What we do with your data, who else sees it and how long we keep it is in the privacy policy.
Changes to your trips, people, permits, documents, evidence files and EES checks are written to a tamper-evident history, so an altered or missing entry can be detected. That history is a record-keeping feature for your own benefit. It is not certified, not timestamped by an outside authority, and we make no promise about whether any court or authority will accept it.
We back the service up as part of running it, but we are not a backup service. Keep your own copy of anything you can't afford to lose.
What you allow us to do with it
You give us permission to store, copy, process and display what you upload or enter, and to send it to the suppliers named in the privacy policy, only to run the service for you. This ends when you delete it, except for copies in backups for the period the privacy policy states. If you send us suggestions or feedback, we may use them freely, without owing you anything.
What belongs to us
The software, the design, the rule explanations and the guides belong to us or to the people who license them to us. You may use them for your own personal use of the service, and you may print and share your own reports.
5. Acceptable use
Please don't:
- use the service to break the law, or to help someone else break immigration or tax law;
- enter data about another person unless you have the right to, for example as their parent or guardian, or with their permission;
- enter a document number, payment card or other detail the forms tell you not to enter;
- upload documents that belong to someone else without their permission, or content that is unlawful to hold or share;
- try to reach another account's data, test our security without asking us first, or work around the rate limits, the plan limits or the sign-in flow;
- copy, decompile or reverse-engineer the service, except where the law allows it;
- reach the service with bots, scripts or scrapers, other than the calendar feed and the exports we provide, or send it traffic beyond ordinary personal use;
- resell, sub-license or white-label the service, or use it to build a competing product;
- upload malware, or do anything that degrades the service for other people;
- use the service if you are the subject of US, EU or UK sanctions, or from a country under a comprehensive US embargo.
We may suspend or close an account that does these things. Where it is safe and lawful to do so, we will tell you why first and give you a chance to export your data.
We welcome security reports. Email us rather than testing against other people's accounts.
6. Plans and prices
All prices are in US dollars and exclude sales tax and VAT, which Link (Stripe) adds at checkout for your country. Checkout shows the total, including any tax added where you live, before you pay. There is no free trial: the Free plan is the no-card way to try the product, and it has no time limit.
| Plan | Price | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0, no card | One traveler: the Schengen 90/180 count for one person, the trip planner and 180-day forecast, long-stay visas and residence permits, document scanning and expiry reminders, email and in-app alerts, calendar sync, the app on your phone, CSV import and export, the tamper-evident history and data export. You can delete your account at any time. |
| Plus | $4.99 a month or $39 a year | Everything in Free, plus two adults and your children, UK visitor tracking, the EES check and its Article 52 letter, forwarded bookings and the PDF report. |
| Pro | $14.99 a month or $129 a year | Everything in Plus, plus up to six adults instead of two, tax residence for seven European countries, the UK Statutory Residence Test, the evidence vault and the evidence index in the report. Both plans track up to 6 people; Plus counts 2 of them as adults and the rest as your children, Pro counts up to 6 in any mix. |
| Founders lifetime | $99 once | Plus for as long as the service exists, with no renewals, including what we add to Plus later. It does not include Pro; you can subscribe to Pro on top, and when that ends your lifetime Plus remains. |
We may change what is in each plan, for example when a rule changes, a supplier changes or we find a better way to build a feature. If a change takes away something material you are paying for, including as a Founders holder, we will email you at least 30 days before it happens. You can then cancel, and if the change comes during a period you have already paid for, we will refund the unused part.
We may change prices. A change never affects the period you have already paid for. We will email you between 7 and 30 days before a new price first applies to your subscription, with how to cancel.
7. Payment, renewals, cancellation and refunds
When you buy a plan, you buy it from Link, LLC, a Stripe company, which acts as the seller (merchant of record) through Stripe Managed Payments. Link's own terms cover the payment: it takes the payment, holds your card details, calculates and files any sales tax or VAT, sends your receipt, and handles chargebacks. These terms cover your use of MyTravelStatus. If the two conflict about payment, Link's terms apply. We never see or store your card number. Your card statement shows LINK.COM* MYTRAVELSTATUS.
- Subscriptions renew automatically, monthly or yearly, until you cancel. Founders lifetime is a single payment and never renews.
- About 30 days before a yearly plan renews, and never later than 15 days before, we email you the date, the amount and how to cancel. Monthly plans don't get this email.
- Cancel at any time. The “Manage billing” button in Settings opens Stripe's billing portal, where you cancel; you can also manage the payment at link.com.
- When you cancel, you keep your plan until the end of the period you have already paid for, then the account moves to Free. Your data stays, and so do your export and deletion buttons.
- You can move from Plus to Pro in Settings. Stripe's billing portal shows the prorated charge before you confirm it.
- If you move to a plan without the evidence vault or the EES check, the files and checks you already stored stay listed, and you can still download and delete them. You can't add new ones.
- If a payment fails, Stripe retries it. Your plan keeps working while it does. If the retries fail, the subscription ends and the account moves to Free.
- Deleting your account cancels an active subscription first. If we can't reach Stripe at that moment, the deletion is refused rather than half-done, and you should try again.
Refunds
Refunds within 14 days: ask at support@mytravelstatus.com within 14 days of your first payment for a plan, or of a yearly renewal, and that payment is refunded in full. Monthly renewals are not covered. We may decline repeated requests that look like using a plan for free. After 14 days, write to us and we will consider it fairly.
In the EU and the UK you also have a statutory right to withdraw within 14 days of buying. Nothing in these terms reduces your statutory rights.
How a refund is paid: Link (Stripe) is the seller, so Link pays it. We arrange it with Link for you, or you can raise it at link.com.
If a Founders lifetime purchase is refunded in full, the lifetime Plus access it paid for is removed.
Payment disputes
If you dispute a payment with your bank instead of asking us, Link handles the dispute. We may pause the paid features that payment covered while the dispute is open. If a dispute over a Founders payment is lost, lifetime Plus ends, as it does after a full refund.
8. Relo2France members
If you use MyTravelStatus inside the Relo2France portal, it comes with your Relo2France membership. The same company runs both (The Burrowbridge Group, LLC), and Relo2France's terms govern the membership. Sections 2, 5 and 11 of these terms still apply to how you use the tracker. How your data is handled is set out in section 13 of our privacy policy.
Your Relo2France membership is what gives you access, and their terms govern that membership. You do not buy a plan from us and we do not charge you: we never show you prices, and there is nothing in the tracker to buy.
- Relo2France tells us who you are, the people in your household and whether you hold a long-stay visa or residence permit. Those details are managed there, not here, and are read-only in the tracker.
- We send Relo2France a short status summary for your household: days used, days left and the end of your window.
- The people and the residence dates that come from Relo2France can't be edited in the tracker. Trips, permits you add yourself and everything else are yours to change.
- If your membership ends, access stops immediately and any open session is closed. If the tracker was your only way in — you never set up your own sign-in with us — your data is kept for 90 days and then deleted. If you did set up your own sign-in, your account stays and you keep using it directly with us. If Relo2France tells us your membership was deleted, we delete your data straight away.
- The tracker inside the portal covers Schengen only: the Schengen 90/180 count for everyone in your Relo2France household, the trip planner and 180-day forecast, long-stay visas and residence permits, document scanning and expiry reminders, in-app alerts, calendar sync, CSV import and export, the tamper-evident history, data export, the EES check and its Article 52 letter and the PDF report. The UK features, the tax residence indicators and the evidence vault are never shown there.
- Your household size is whatever Relo2France sends us; the 6-person limit in section 6 applies to plans bought here.
A separate paid account you buy on this site is your own, under these terms, and is not affected by your Relo2France membership ending.
9. Changes to the service and to these terms
We improve the product continuously, and we change how rules are modeled when the published rules change or when we find we had them wrong. We may add, change or remove features; section 6 says what happens when a change takes away something you pay for. A feature we label as a preview may change or stop without that notice.
We may change these terms to reflect a change in the law, in the rules we count, in our suppliers or in the service. The date at the top always says when. If a change reduces your rights or what your plan includes, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect; for a paid plan it applies from your next renewal. If you don't accept it, you can cancel before then, or delete your account. Price changes follow section 6. Other changes, such as clearer wording, take effect when we post them.
10. Ending the agreement
- You can stop at any time: cancel a paid plan, or delete your account entirely.
- We may suspend or close an account for a serious or repeated breach of section 5, or where we must for legal reasons. Except where the law or the seriousness of the breach prevents it, we will give you notice and a chance to export your data first.
- A free account nobody signs in to for three years is deleted, after warning emails 60 and 14 days before. Signing in keeps it. This never happens to an account with a paid plan, a plan we have given you, or a Relo2France link.
- If we ever close MyTravelStatus down, we will give account holders at least 60 days' notice by email so there is time to export, and we will refund the unused part of any subscription period already paid for.
11. Our liability
For everyone
Some things can't be excluded by law, and we don't try to: death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, and anything else the law says can't be limited. Nothing here takes away the rights a consumer has under the law of their own country.
We are not responsible for decisions made by border, immigration or tax authorities, or for losses caused by trips or documents you entered wrongly or left out, or by not checking an important date with the authority.
If you live in the EU or the UK
We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses: the service is for personal use. Your statutory rights, including your right to a service that conforms to the contract, are not affected. The rest of this section does not apply to you.
If you live anywhere else, including the United States
The service is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or available at any particular time.
We are not liable for a refused entry, a fine, a visa or permit decision, a tax assessment, a canceled trip, lost bookings, lost profits, lost data or any indirect or consequential loss arising from using the service or from relying on a count, an indicator, a report or an alert.
Where we are liable, our total liability to you for all claims is limited to the amount paid for your MyTravelStatus plan, to Link or to us, in the twelve months before the claim, or US$50, whichever is greater. Some states don't allow some of these limits, so some of them may not apply to you.
You agree to cover our reasonable costs if someone else brings a claim against us because you uploaded data you had no right to, or because you broke section 5.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the State of South Dakota, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The arbitration agreement below is governed by the Federal Arbitration Act.
Talk to us first
Before either of us starts a claim, email the other with what the problem is and what would put it right, and allow 30 days to settle it. Write to us at support@mytravelstatus.com; we write to the email address on your account.
If you live in the EU or the UK
None of the arbitration agreement, the class-action waiver or the choice of courts below applies to you. You keep every protection the law of your country gives you, as if that law had been chosen, and you can bring a claim in the courts where you live. We will bring any claim against you only in those courts.
Arbitration agreement for US residents
- If you live in the United States, you and we agree to resolve any dispute about the service or these terms by individual, binding arbitration, not in court, except as this section says. The arbitration is run by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, which also decide who pays its fees. The arbitrator can award you the same individual relief a court could.
- Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court, if it qualifies there.
- Claims may be brought only individually, never as a plaintiff or class member in a class, collective or representative action, and an arbitrator may not combine different people's claims except as the next point allows.
- If 25 or more similar demands are filed against us by, or with the help of, the same lawyers or organization, they are administered in batches of up to 25, each batch before one arbitrator. The next batch starts when the one before it is decided, unless you and we agree otherwise, and time limits are paused while a demand waits.
- If a court decides the class-action waiver can't be enforced for a particular claim, that claim goes to the courts named below, never to class arbitration.
- Where the law does not allow a waiver of public injunctive relief, as in California, a request for that relief goes to court after the individual arbitration ends. Everything else stays in arbitration.
- You can opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of first accepting these terms, by emailing support@mytravelstatus.com from your account's email address and saying that you opt out. Opting out changes nothing else in these terms.
- If we change this arbitration agreement, the change doesn't apply to a dispute either of us already knew about.
- Where the law allows it, a claim must be brought within one year of when it arose.
Courts
Anything that is not arbitrated, and every dispute with someone who lives outside the United States, the EU and the UK, goes to the state courts in Minnehaha County, South Dakota, or to the United States District Court for the District of South Dakota. That does not take away any protection the law of the country you live in gives you and says can't be waived.
13. The rest
- These terms are the whole agreement between us about the service. When you buy a plan, Link's terms also apply to the purchase. The privacy policy explains how we handle your data; it is a notice, not part of this contract. Nothing here excludes what the law treats as part of the contract, such as information we gave you before you bought.
- If a court finds one part unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- Not enforcing something once doesn't mean we give up the right to enforce it later.
- You can't transfer your account or these terms to someone else. We may transfer them to whoever buys the business, who must honor them. We will tell you if that happens, it will not reduce your rights, and you may cancel.
- We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events we could not reasonably prevent or avoid.
- Sections 2, 11 and 12, and anything owed between us, still apply after the agreement ends.
- We send notices to the email address on your account, and a notice counts as given when we send it. Send yours to support@mytravelstatus.com.
- You agree to receive these terms, notices and receipts electronically.
14. How to contact us
Email support@mytravelstatus.com, or use the support page in the app. We answer usually within one working day, and always within five. For anything about your personal data, the privacy policy says how to ask and how long we take.
